So, without further adieu, enjoy “A New Thing!”

A New Thing

See, I am doing a new thing!

Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness

and streams in the wasteland.

—Isaiah 43:19

The Story for His Glory

It was July of 2015 when Graci’s family received the news that altered their lives forever and directed all their thoughts to our Heavenly Father as they searched for answers. Graci was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Her family questioned God’s plan, “Why is this happening to Graci…a beautiful wife, loving mother, adored grandmother, and an amazing spiritual friend to hundreds?” Though they were faced with fears and concern, the Gillming family rested in the fact that Graci’s story would be used for His glory! The day after receiving her diagnosis, Graci found Isaiah 43:19 in her daily devotions and it became her theme verse throughout her journey. She knew to trust in Him to guide her family as she opened her eyes to His work in her life. He was certainly doing a new thing in Graci’s life, and though it could be seen as a hopeless situation, she knew only He would be able to make a way in the wilderness.

Stream in the Wasteland

Every new thing comes from God, but it isn’t always what we think it will be. He will make a way and He will use your story for His glory if you allow Him to.

Reflection

  1. How do you perceive the new things God is doing in your life?
  2. Where is God making a way in your wilderness?
  3. How can shifting your perception of these new things help you to see the streams in the wasteland?

Read and/or write out Ecclesiastes 3:11:

He has made everything beautiful in its time.

—Ecclesiastes 3:11

  • What beauty are you awaiting in your hardship?
  • How does this Scripture help you to view the new thing God is working in your life as beautiful, rather than painful?

Action Prayer

Pray for God to show you where you can shift your perspective to view these new challenges in your life in a more positive light.

I’ve mentioned before just how much Graci GIllming meant to me. And how inspiring her story was and still is to me.  Graci’s story lives on through Streams in the Wasteland. Her story for His glory!
