‘Tis Fire Season

Tis Fire Season Feature Image

Well, y’all, fire season is officially upon us. Wildland Man just got home from a long detail away and I’ve been hearing from other fire wives out there seeking encouragement in the trenches.

So, I thought this would be a good time to gather up all the wildland fire resources here on the blog into one neat and tidy, little blog post. That way any new wildland fire wives seeking connection and support for this fire life we live will have everything in one spot.

Because this fire life we live, it ain’t for the faint of heart. Sure, we can learn to love this lifestyle, especially as we watch our wildland men grow and love it themselves. And we can be an encouragement to our husbands in the process. But that doesn’t make the reality of a busy fire season any less daunting.

We have our strong days. Our days where we are comfortable in our independence and confident in our roles as fire wives. But we also have the weak ones. The moments when our emotions get the best of us. The days when we find ourselves incredibly lonely and needy.

I remember my first fire season well…but, every fire season has its moments. So, ready or not, ‘tis fire season! Prepare for your plans to get ruined, your schedule to go amuck, and for that worry to settle in the back of your thoughts.

‘Tis the time to start talking about making it through the fire season!
